Campaign Details

We’re campaigning to raise funds to support StoriesWork, a Durham-based 501c3 nonprofit organization working to increase empowerment, self-esteem, insight and understanding through the power of interactive storytelling. With a database of hundreds of folk stories, StoriesWork staff and volunteers work with groups and individuals to help them understand themselves and the world around them better.

Throughout this 60-day campaign, we’re giving you a chance to determine whether or not we’ll receive these funds. 10 stories will venture out into the physical and cyber world to wait for you to find them! We’ll give clues to their whereabouts until each one is found! When you find the story, you’ll also find instructions about how to report your findings and claim your prize! (What? You didn’t know there was a prize? Surprise!)

Meanwhile, hundreds of stories sit back at the StoriesWork office wondering about their fate. This organization needs your support to keep bringing stories to the people who need them to help create healing in their lives. Donate now, ask your friends to donate! Any amount is welcome, needed and appreciated!

Since its creation in 2000,  StoriesWork's main goal has been to bring the power and experience of interactive storytelling to as many people as possible  We use timeless folktales from around the world in group settings.  Our storytellers guide the group through interactive discussion on the stories, their themes, characters, and possible outcomes.  The powerful message for our participants is that there are no right or wrong answers; all views and comments are respected and valuable.  This technique fosters empowerment, self-esteem, good decision making, and reflective thinking for all who take part in the sessions.  Our programs have been successful with survivors of domestic violence, ex-offenders, the elderly, teenagers, parents and children, corporate offices, residential medical facilities and many others.

CLUE #10:  You'll have to chase this one down, but you can get some lunch while you're at it! There will be 4 chances to locate this story before our Story Search clock runs out of time, so maybe you'll find it in Durham on Wednesday, or Cary on Thursday, or as a last resort, back in Durham on Friday! Coincidentally, the Friday stop brings us VERY CLOSE to the location where our very first story was found!  #storysearch
